Today I had the most unpleasant experience with frozen fish product brought at Grocery Hut, Cranbrook Rd, Ilford.
After thawing the fish when I tried to slice the fish I noticed that colour of
fish looked as though the fish has been forzen either for a long time or treated with chemicals to extend it's freshness.The flesh of the fish was disintegrating . Horrified at the sight - I decided to take it back to Grocery
Hut where we brought it from.
Instead of appologizing for the quality of the fish - he started lecturing me how to wash the fish with cold water and proceedied to the tap to show me how and that I was trying to defraud him and didn't know how to how process frozen fish.
When I said that I would like to buy another fish - he turned around told
me that I would be buying it at my risk. In another word I'll not able
to complain if the fish turned out to be below standard.
In view of the above-mentioned policy of the shopkeeper I came to the
conclusion that this shop is danger to Public Health and should be
investigated by the Food Standards Office and if need be prosecuted
for violation of customer rights and Food Standards Regulations
